All packages include:

Product and lighting setup for the best angle possible.

Post processing to make images look their best (image touch-up, color balance, and cropping).

Seamless white background for images.

Instant online delivery of photos.

Image rights and usage*.

For the Web Package, the images you receive are:

A large size image (700px longest side, in JPG format)

For the Web + High Res Package, you will receive the images above, plus:

A high resolution image for printing in TIFF format. Other file formats (jpg, psd, png) are available upon request.)

Our turn around time on product photography usually runs about 3 business days for 20-49 products. This is just a general estimate though. Some products are easier to set up and photograph then others. So the time estimated may be more or may be less.

There are two pricing packages.

If you plan to use your photos for the web only then the Web Package should suit your needs. If you plan to use your photos for printing though (catalogs, etc), or if you’d just like to have a high resolution photo on hand for whatever needs you may have, then you want the Web + High Res Package.

Pricing depends on the amount of products you wish to be photographed, as well as the type of products. Please use this list as a general guideline. But it’s important that you request a quote for your specific products to get the most accurate rates. Rush jobs will increase by roughly 25%

I want to make sure you receive great quality product photography at reasonable prices. To do this, I did some homework to find out what other companies are charging. I hope you’ll agree that my rates are some of the most reasonable you’ll find:

Additions and Extras:

Backdrop and reflection: $5 per product

Group product shots: Any photo with more then one item would be considered a group shot (example: if multiple products are being sold together, etc). Because this requires extra set up time, additional charges apply. And because the set up of each product grouping is different, pricing varies.

*Royalty Free – No Licensing – No Usage Restrictions!

You will receive high quality digital images that are royalty free. This means you will never have to pay a yearly fee to use them, or a fee each time you use the image. You can use each image as many times as you have need, whether it be in print or on the web. It’s YOUR image**. Although, you will not be allowed to sell the photos for profit or claim copyright on them. All copyrights remain with the photographer.

By hiring Casa Dresden for photography services you agree to the following terms and conditions regarding copyrights and licensing:

Photographer retains copyright for all photographs. All photos produced for the customer are licensed to that customer ONLY for all marketing associated with the customer’s business in accordance with that business’ rules. No license is granted to any other party for commercial or marketing purposes. Any usage of the photo by a third party is prohibited unless approved in writing by the photographer. Photographer retains the right to use the photos for photography marketing and advertising purposes and for use as “stock photos.”

In plain English, this means that you, the customer, have the right to use the photos for marketing the specific purpose for which you hired me to take these photos, in perpetuity. However, you may not share these photos with any other entities nor may you allow other entities to use the photos for any purpose under this license. You may however, be granted a separate license upon request.

The reason for this statement is to protect you and protect me from photos being misappropriated without property payment or reimbursement. On the flip side of the coin, I, the PHOTOGRAPHER, cannot sell these photos to your competitors, either, without your permission.

Licensing

By request, photographer can provide a license for the personal, private use of our photos by the seller or buyer. This license is not granted by default, but can be provided along with a copy of the photos by request for a nominal fee.

Late Payment

All invoices are sent with terms of NET 30. As long as payment is received on time, the license described above is granted without condition. However, should the invoice go unpaid beyond 30 days after the date of the invoice, all license is revoked and all images must be removed from marketing material until the invoice is paid in full and license is restored by the photographer. If payment is not received and arrangements have not been made with the photographer following the due date, Casa Dresden reserves the right to send Digital Millenium Copyright Act (DMCA) takedown notices to any websites hosting the photographs.

Final Note

Photographers almost never, ever sell their copyrights along with their images. There are lots of reasons for this, including the fact that the photographer would like to continue to display images for marketing purposes, which is not possible without the copyrights (without a license). The photographer would like to benefit from some unknown future use of the photo.

I hope you consider these fair terms. If you have any questions or would like to negotiate other terms, please contact me. Thank you for reading.

The Parade: Atlanta celebrates St. Patrick’s day

On Saturday, March 12, Atlanta – in all its ethnic variance and covered in green – marched along Peachtree Street as the bagpipes sobbed traditional Irish tunes. The weather was perfectly well-behaved and so was the crowd.

Shooting a Parade Is Great Practice

I used three cameras that day. Why? I wanted to explore the effects of all three very different types of photography and shooting the same scenes with all three made that possible (and made me sweat!) It’s all about being poised and ready. Having every camera’s settings prepared and having all film loaded (with easy access to additional rolls closeby) all while loud percussion is blasting your eardrums and your knees are growing tired from the crouching is enough of a challenge. Add in the time factor: you have about 10 seconds to shoot that marching band (make sure you get the cute little Maltese dressed in sparkly green) before the cool, decked out muscle car with the three waving blonds passes by. And then there are lapses of time between groups. You breathe, check your settings and look around for kissing couples.

Juggling three cameras and reloading film in a hurry taught me a whole new skill! Digital photography isn’t quite so demanding. I learn just as much about digital photography by shooting film as I do shooting digital! Below are some shots from the Canon and the Holga – taken all in film. I didn’t include the black and white images from the Rangefinder yet. The Holga toy shots you can easily spot (vignetted corners and blown out highlights).

The Canon

The first shots below were taken with an 80′s Canon 35mm slr. I like the rich saturation and overall contrast with this camera. I normally shoot on manual all the time, but here I kept it on “P” mode during periods when the parade was moving very fast and I didn’t have time to think about manual settings. Staying nimble and quick and at the same time, remaining patient helped me become better at discerning worthy composition.

The Holga

These were taken with a toy Holga. I love the vignetting and the retro feel to images taken with this camera. It’s so easy and fool-proof, it seems unbelievable. It’s extremely light and easy to carry around too. However, I probably will reserve using the Holga for other types of street settings. You don’t get to appreciate it’s “funky” nature as much in this kind of light. Nevertheless, I got a couple of shots I could appreciate.
